When talking about health, we often think first about diet and exercise routine. And of course, these play a major part in overall health, but what about emotional and mental health?
Who would you rather be – the person who brings a 12-vegetable salad in a tupperware container for lunch to the cubicle job they hate, or the person who doesn’t fixate much on diet and runs their dream business each and every day?
In a perfect world, you’re running your dream business AND eating a high-quality lunch, and everyone gets to live happily ever after. But if forced to choose between the two aforementioned scenarios, I’d easily rather be the person who enjoys their day to day over the one who trudges through miserable day after miserable day maintaining a pristine diet.
If, like most people, you work five days a week, this means that 71.4% of your days are spent, at least in part, doing that one particular thing. I don’t know about you, but I certainly want to be spending the majority of my time doing something that I enjoy. And apparently, at least one former New York-based lawyer agrees with me.
After spending 22 years as a lawyer, Helene Godin called her husband one day and said “I think I’m done.” She then made a career move that would completely change her life, along with her day to day happiness – she opened By The Way, a gluten-free, dairy-free bakery.
